In Georgia, 1 in 5 children experiences food insecurity. And roughly 64% of food-insecure Georgians have incomes above the threshold for federal nutrition assistance, leaving many families caught in the gap between needing help and qualifying for it.. Not all Georgians qualify for SNAP, which helps explain why many families can still struggle to keep up with school meal costs.
When families fall just outside assistance guidelines, unpaid meal balances can build quietly over time. That debt may seem small on paper, but it can create real stress for students and families. This campaign exists to help close that gap.
